Civil War, James Loveall

James M. Loveall was born Jan. 22, 1844, in Adair County in Kentucky, a son of Absalom and Dicy Mills Loveall. He later moved to Warrensburg and was a farmer.



He enrolled into the service on April 1, 1862, in Company G, 7th Regiment of the Missouri State Militia Cavalry Volunteers to serve during the Civil War. He became a private on April 23, 1862, in Georgetown.



On Jan. 5, 1864, he enlisted into Company L, 2nd Regiment of the Missouri Light Artillery Volunteers. On April 12, 1865, in Warrensburg, he was married to Elisabeth Jane Talley, who died Jan. 28, 1927.



In 1865, he left the state to go on the Powder River Expedition. But on the return trip, around September, he was diagnosed with rheumatism. He was discharged Nov. 20, 1865.



Mr. Loveall and his wife had seven children, Lena A. Loveall, Willis Robert Loveall, Nannie Bell Loveall, James Milton Loveall, John Thomas Loveall, Lucy Loveall and Zella Elisabeth Loveall.



He is the great-grandfather of Gene Loveall and Carl Loveall, both of Sedalia.
