Smithton teen hurt in wreck

A Smithton teenager was injured Saturday in a single-vehicle in Pettis County.

Brandon L. Paxton, 17, was taken by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center with serious injuries.

The accident occurred at 9:50 a.m. as Paxton was northbound on Highway M at Goodwill Chapel Road near Sedalia. Paxton’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and hit the end of the right bridge rail of a one-lane bridge. The vehicle continued and hit the left bridge rail before stopping on the bridge, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports. 

Paxton was not wearing a seat belt, the report states.
