Sedalia teen killed in 1-car wreck

A Sedalia teenager was killed after being ejected from a vehicle Friday night in Pettis County.

Alejandro Mares, 17, was pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m. at University Hospital in Columbia. The driver, Kyle Miller, 19, of La Monte, was taken by helicopter to University Hospital with moderate injuries.

The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. as Miller was southbound on state Route 127 just south of Wimer Road near La Monte.

Miller’s vehicle drove off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, the report states.

Guys, Alejandro is my brother and i can tell you the truth. Not always the radio will tell the truth but take it from somebody close to him. Alejandro was riding in his car with his friend kyle. Kyle was the one driving Alejandro to pick up my little brother from the skating ring. Another one of his friends was driving behind him to make sure he made it home safe. Halfway into the street, the car lost control because it got hit on reverse on accident. Kyle flew out a window while Alejandro flew out the front window head first and flew really far. The cops came and took kyle to the hospital. The cops and the paramedics took 2 and a half hours just to take Alejandro to the hospital. It was to late. According to the paramedics, he stopped breathing once they put him in the ambulance becuase blood went into his lungs because of internal bleeding. They may press charges of drunk driving because he had a beer can in his car from like a long time ago. They never checked Alejandro's head but they knew he had brain injury. He later soon died becuase of blood loss. That is the story. For now im just really sad my brother died in a car accident.

ok motherof4beautys but i just want to add one little thing to the story.
Alejandro was a very cautious driver and drinks alot of beer. But this night when he died, he had never drank beer and was following gods work and rules. Sadly it was Alejandro's time to go. The person driving him, Kyle, was also a good driver. According to the person driving behind Kyle, they were driving smoothly but a little fast. He said once he went over a hill, he saw the car swerve to the left than to the right. Once they got back on track, they lost control. Alejandro later then got sent to the hospital. Got revived 4 times, but god said it was his time to go. Alejandro Suffered but is now in a greater place. R.I.P Alex

We miss you Alex. And i hope Kyle is ok. Henry i am sorry for you, Christian, Angel and your family that Alex had to go. My cousins were friends with him and whenever i saw him he always looked happy. After school i would always see him driving by and i'd be like "Yup that's Alex" Your right, Alex is in a better place where God is taking care of him. And every night before i go to sleep i pray Alex is ok and that he takes care of you and your family. Tell your family i am sorry and we all miss Alex. Dios te bendiga Alejandro.

I am Kyle's aunt...And we would like to know how come everyone thinks Kyle was driving...We do not know what happened...We just know that this has been a very unfortunate circumstance for all involved...Our hearts go out to Alex's family and friends....We would also like to thank all of Kyles friends that have made numerous trips to see him this last week...You being there and supporting him has really made a difference ...Missy and Shawn i love you all.....
