Law Day cases for Jan. 4

The following cases were heard Monday in Pettis County Circuit Court, according to Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Mittelhauser:

• Brady Allred, 18, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was arrested Nov. 6 when the Sedalia Police Department’s STING Unit served a search warrant at 901 W. Third St. at the home of Randy Boles. Allred had possession of about 22 grams of marijuana and officers found evidence on his cellular phone indicating that he was selling marijuana. Execution of a five-year sentence was suspended and Allred was placed on probation for five years with a requirement that he serve 120 days in jail as shock detention. Similar charges are pending against codefendants Randy Boles and Casey Allred.

• Tammy Banks, 44, of Sedalia, was sentenced to three years on a charge of attempt to possess a controlled substance. On March 22, 2007, Banks accidentally called Sedalia Police Detective Phil Stewart’s cellular phone trying to buy drugs. She was arrested when she arrived at the meeting place and then admitted she intended to take the drugs to another person to settle a debt. She was admitted to the Drug Court Program, but was terminated in May of 2009 for several violations. She then entered a guilty plea on Aug. 12, 2009.

• Christopher Boulais, 32, of Knob Noster, pleaded guilty to stealing, admitting he received a loan from Third National Bank in 2007 by concealing the existence of a lien on the vehicle given as security. The sentence was suspended and Boulais was placed on probation for five years with a condition that he pay restitution to the bank.

• Jesse Brown, 27, of Sedalia, was sentenced to serve 240 days in jail after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated last month. The offense was a felony because Brown has two prior driving while intoxicated convictions.

• Patrick Brown, 23, of Sedalia, was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail after pleading guilty last month to the felony of sexual misconduct involving a child and the misdemeanor of child molestation in the second degree. The offenses arose from a Dec. 25, 2008, incident where Brown induced a 14-year-old girl to expose herself to him and he touched her genitals.

• Sharon Crain, 43, of Sedalia, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested Nov. 19 when Sedalia Police Officer Sean Hiatt served a search warrant at her home at 1018 E. Ninth St. The officer found rolling papers, a grinder, plastic bags and a High Times magazine.

• Caleb Cramer, 27, of Sedalia, was sentenced to serve five years in prison on a driving while intoxicated charge from a July 2 arrest on Highway 50 by Trooper Larry Nelson. Cramer pleaded guilty to the charge, a felony due to three prior convictions for alcohol-related driving offenses last November.

• Todd Harvey, 31, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in connection with an Aug. 23 arrest by Sedalia Police Officer Josh Howell. The prosecutor recommended a two-year sentence and the case was continued to Feb. 1 for sentencing.

• Gonzalo Herrera, 43, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to burglary in the second degree and driving while intoxicated. Herrera admitted that on Oct. 24 he unlawfully entered the home at 1718 W. 18th St. for the purpose of assaulting an occupant. When Herrera was arrested in his vehicle nearby, police discovered he was intoxicated. The court ordered a sentencing assessment report and scheduled a sentencing hearing for Feb. 25.

• Patrick Odwyer, 33, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to delivery of a controlled substance. Odwyer was arrested in December as part of the undercover operation conducted by the Sedalia Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Odwyer admitted that on Oct. 13 he put the officer in contact with two other persons who then sold marijuana to the officer. The court ordered a sentencing assessment report and scheduled a sentencing hearing for March 10.

• Aaron Schlatweiler, 18, of Sweet Springs, pleaded guilty to stealing in connection with thefts from several vehicles in July. He admitted that he and another person stole property from five vehicles. Schlatweiler was placed on probation for five years with a requirement that he serve 30 days in jail as shock detention. No restitution was ordered because Schlatweiler and the codefendant returned the stolen property.

• Mary Shepherd, 34, of California, was placed on probation for five years on a charge of attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud. Sedalia Police Officer Victoria Kottman arrested Shepherd Oct. 31, 2008, after a local pharmacy reported that a suspicious prescription was phoned in from a person claiming to work for a physician. When Shepherd arrived to pick up the prescription, she gave a false name. While she is on probation, she will be required to serve 15 days in jail as shock detention and perform 120 house of community service work.

• Michael Sisler, 20, of Green Ridge, was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail after pleading guilty in November to speeding. He was arrested Nov. 30, 2008, by Sedalia Police Officer Mike Layton. When Layton tried to stop Sisler on Broadway Boulevard, Sisler failed to stop and accelerated to 80 miles per hour.

• Rhonda Taber, 46, of Sedalia, was ordered to serve a four-year sentence when her probation was revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Taber was placed on probation after pleading guilty to possession of hydrocodone on March 3. Her probation was revoked after Sedalia Police Officers Larry Parham and Joseph McCullough arrested her Aug. 27 in possession of alprazolam under circumstances indicating her intent to give or sell a pill to another person.

• Teresa Troiana, 42, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful transactions with a child, admitting she possessed cocaine when Deputy John Hammond stopped a vehicle that Troiana was a passenger in. The unlawful transactions charge stemmed from the fact that there was a person under the age of 17 in the vehicle at the time. The case was continued to Feb. 16 for sentencing.

• Juan Carlos Vargas-Rodriguez, 36, of California, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and driving while revoked, both felony offenses.
