Flash Flood Warning issued for Pettis County

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Pettis County until 11:15 p.m., as torrential rain across the area is expected to cause flash flooding.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Pettis County, Johnson County and southwestern Saline County until 11:15 p.m.

According to NWS, at 5:17 p.m. doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Sedalia, Warrensburg, Knob Noster, Holden, Sweet Springs, Whiteman Air Force Base, La Monte, Smithton, Leeton, Green Ridge, Chilhowee, Kingsville, Houstonia, Centerview, Hughesville, Fayetteville and Post Oak.

A Flood Advisory has been issued until 10 p.m. for minor flooding in poor drainage areas for southwestern Johnson County, southeastern Cass County and northwestern Henry County. Some locations that could experience flooding include Warrensburg, Holden, Garden City, Creighton, Chilhowee, Kingsville, Centerview, Gunn City, Blairstown, Quick City and La Tour.

Citizens are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads.
