America needs to turn back to God to be great again

America needs to get back to God.

I believe that the most important thing that Christians in America can do is pray. Scripture is clear in II Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” We can’t look to the White House, the State House or the School House for revival. We need to look to the Church House. If Christians will get right with God, then perhaps the rest of society will follow suit.

Abraham Lincoln said after the civil war, “that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom.” There was a time when God mattered in America. There was a time when average Americans knew their Bibles well enough that biblical teaching had a strong influence on what people thought and how they behaved and how they voted. There was a time when Christianity shaped the social, political, moral, religious and intellectual landscape of these United States.

Warnings that have gone forth are being ignored. It is as though people, legislators, and judges are waving their fists in defiance of a holy God who has been our mainstay since our founding. Laws of God are being flouted under the guise of protecting civil liberties. What is right and just is being sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. It is wrong for an edict to come down from the highest office in the land saying that people can use the restroom of their choice depending on their self-identification. The Bible is clear in Genesis 1:27 that “…God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” When there is no question in the mind of God, there should be no question in the policies of man.

Prayer is the work that must come before all other work. Christians have God’s directives in the Word of God and must follow them. God clearly teaches that He will not hear our prayers if there is un-confessed sin. Psalms 66:18. We need to personally and corporately confess our sins to God and beg for His mercy. God promises in Psalms 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” The greatest opportunity for America to be great again is for Americans to turn back to God. I’m willing, are you?
