Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a traffic accident in Saline County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

Driver Betty J. Mikels, 60,  and her passenger, Wynona B. Morrow, 84, both of Marshall, were taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, according to the patrol.

The accident happened at 2:54 p.m. on Route B east of Missouri 240. Mikels slowed her vehicle to turn, and a car driven by Tara A. Palmer, 28, of Slater, hit the rear of the Mikels’ vehicle. Both Palmer and Mikels were eastbound, the patrol said.

Palmer was cited on a charge of careless and imprudent driving, according to the report.
