Two people were taken by helicopter to a Columbia hospital this morning after an accident in Pettis County, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Injured were Johnny B. Tygart, 76, and Sarah E. Tygart, 75, both of Sedalia. They were taken to University Hospital, where they were in fair condition, a spokeswoman said.

The accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. on Route HH at Olive Branch Road. A mini-van driven by  Johnny Tygart failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a pickup driven by Monica G. Shirky, 48, of Pilot Grove, the patrol reported.
