Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Three people were injured in a three-car accident on state Route 13 in Johnson County Thursday afternoon, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Martha S. Fiene, 49, of Blackburn, and Toni L. Runyon, 26, of Centerview, were both taken to Western Missouri Medical Center by ambulance. The hospital does not release patient conditions.

Another driver, Mehrdad Haghighat-Jou, 44, of Braymer, declined medical treatment.

The accident happened at 4 p.m. about three-tenths of a mile north of Johnson County NW 625 Road when Haghighat-Jou was southbound. His vehicle crossed the centerline, hitting Fiene's northbound vehicle in the driver's side and Runyon's vehicle head-on.

The accident, which occurred in snowy conditions, forced the Highway Patrol to shut down the highway for some time.
