Leo L. Lewis will observe his 90th birthday Aug. 17.
He was born Aug. 17, 1924, to Sherman and Eva Lewis in Sedalia.
Leo graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1942, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 37 years on the same route, and was accompanied, on his route, for 13 years by a small black dog named Pookie, who had adopted Leo. Leo has lived most of his life in Sedalia.
He has been a member of the East Sedalia Baptist Church for 80 years and served faithfully as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and member on many committees. Leo loved going to church services and his job. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. He now is enjoying the activities at The Essex and visiting with friends.
A “shower” of cards would brighten his special day; send cards to: Mr. Leo L. Lewis, The Essex, 301 E. Third St., Apt. 209, Sedalia, Mo., 65301.
