Jim and Barbara Cooney typically provide their support from the wings, but on Monday morning they were center stage as State Fair Community College surprised them by creating a $10,000 endowed scholarship in their names.
SFCC President Marsha Drennon made the announcement in the Stauffacher Theatre before a performance of the children’s theater production of “Honk!” for Cole Camp elementary students. The James O. and Barbara Lamy Cooney Endowed Theatre Scholarship, which will be awarded annually, was created with proceeds from the SFCC Foundation’s 2012 gala.
