Upgrades to the security camera system at Smith-Cotton Junior High School and approval of the preliminary 2013-14 budget are on the agenda for Monday night’s Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education meeting.

District recommendation is to accept a nearly $92,000 bid from Midwest Computech for the security camera system, which would be in place by the time school starts in August. The proposal includes 72 internal and external cameras, which would be monitored on site and would feed into the video monitoring hub at Smith-Cotton High School. The expenditure is included in the district’s five-year maintenance plan.

The board also is scheduled to approve an evaluation of the district’s special education program, which includes surveys of parents and students to gauge user impact and satisfaction.

Also on the agenda:

• Request for approval to proceed with planning for a sports stadium project.

• Discussion of changes to the cell phone policy to align with Bring Your Own Device technology programming.

• Discussion of other policy revisions, some mandatory due to state directives.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at Smith-Cotton High School.
