MoDOT to discuss significant cutbacks

Posted: Saturday, May 7, 2011 12:00 am | Updated: 11:26 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

Residents will get an opportunity to hear Missouri Department of Transporation officials discuss staff reductions, facilities closings and equipment sales expected to bring $512 million in savings.

MoDOT will hold community briefings throughout the state to explain cutting 1,200 positions, shuttering 135 facilities and selling more than 740 pieces of equipment, according to a news release. MoDOT officials said in the release that the staff reductions “will occur through attrition and transfers, and, as a last step, layoffs.”
