The Liberty Center Association for the Arts will kick off its Juneteenth celebration Thursday with a photography exhibit and conversation about Africa.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The LCAA’s “Into Africa” event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and exhibit of photos from Africa taken by local resident Kathy Menefee. That will be followed by a discussion and slide show by Betty Hopkins, who has made a number of humanitarian trips to Africa.
