United Way helps keep Red Cross ready to respond

Donald Boggs learned firsthand how important the services of the Pettis County Chapter of the American Red Cross are following the July fire that destroyed the Mark Twain Apartments.

Boggs, 49, of Liberty, was living in the building when the fire struck and had followed his usual routine of laying down for a nap after a shift at Tyson. He said had it not been for an unusually early call from his then fiancé, Phoebe, things could have turned out very differently.
