Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe told reporters early attendance numbers are down slightly from last year, but expects good weather and a strong second weekend entertainment lineup will draw larger crowds to the fair, which ends Sunday.
“We don’t have any final numbers. We are down just a hair from where we were at from last year through Sunday, but it is really close and I definitely know we are up from the previous two years before that,” Wolfe said during a morning press conference on Wednesday.
“We had a challenge this year to top the Saturday from last year,” Wolfe said, noting that a busy fair weekend that included the Jason Aldean country show at the Pepsi Grandstand helped set records last year.
“I think we are going to end up better this year. I think we have a little stronger concert series and things going out the end and we have some great weather coming so we are looking to some good numbers when we are done,” Wolfe said.
