Scott Joplin Foundation Artist in Residence, Bryan Wright, performs his spin on Joplin's famous "Maple Leaf Rag" at Skyline Elementary Monday. As the artist in residence, Wright will travel to schools and social clubs this week to promote the foundation and the upcoming Scott Joplin Festival in June.
Skyline Elementary kindergarten, first and second graders clap along to "Louisana Rag" during a special ragtime performance Monday at the school. The students were encouraged to dance and clap along as Scott Joplin Foundation Artist in Residence Bryan Wright played ragtime songs and told students a little about Sedalia's importance in ragtime history.
