Jeff Koetting, of Sedalia, left, donates blood during a Community Blood Center blood drive on Tuesday at First Christian Church with an assist from Rosemary Slaughter, a CBC technician. This is the third blood drive this year hosted by CBC, which taps donors and supplies hospitals in a roughly 100-mile radius of Kansas City. Bobbie Taylor, a collection supervisor for CBC said, the group helped to take in about 70 pints of usable blood on Tuesday — part of the 500 units of blood the group needs to “meet the needs of area hospitals,” noting that all blood collected by CBC stays in the area. Koetting said Tuesday’s stop was “probably the 50th time I have done this,” noting that he and his extended family make it a point to donate when they can. “It is just an easy way to help the community and help a much-needed cause,” Koetting said.
