Sedalia state Rep. Stanley Cox has been named to the Judiciary Committe of the Missouri House of Representatives.

“I’m very pleased. I think it’s the kind of committee I can have a positive influence on,” Cox said, adding he was happy that house speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, had enough confidence in him to name him to the position.

“Rep. Cox will be a perfect fit on our Judiciary Committee where he will be able to apply his years of experience in the legal profession,” Jetton said in a press release. “The House Judiciary Committee considers some of our most important pieces of legislation and I am confident Stanley will be a valuable contributor to the process of fine tuning these bills in committee.”

The committee considers matters having to do with the judicial process and relating to law, Cox said.

The Sedalia Republican also serves on the House’s Financial Institutions, Elections and Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committees. He is vice-chair on both the Elections and Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committees.

Cox, a Sedalia lawyer and former Prosecuting Attorney of Pettis County, is currently in his first term as a state representative.
