Pettis County Sheriff deputies with air support from the Missouri Army National Guard’s Reconnaissance and Interdiction Detachment discovered a large cultivated marijuana operation Friday and arrested a rural Sedalia man.
Earl D. Paxton Jr., 46, was charged with production of marijuana, a class A felony. Paxton was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond. Other charges were pending.
“This arrest goes to show the success of inter-agency actions in the fight against drug trafficking in this county.” said Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond. “This arrest will put a big dent in the marijuana supply in this area.”
The marijuana patch was located in a field off Yeater Road near Muddy Creek. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home at 22920 Yeater Road, where they found a large quantity of processed marijuana, several firearms, drug paraphernalia and item used in drug production and processing.
Deputies also seized 37 marijuana plants growing in a cultivated plot. They pulled the plants for destruction.
