Kayla Kimbrough, of Sedalia, and Ashley Holmberg, of Warrensburg, each received a $1,000 annual nursing scholarship from the Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary.

Kimbrough is a registered nurse in Bothwell’s Emergency Department. She is working toward her bachelor’s degree in nursing with hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Holmberg is a licensed practical nurse at Bothwell Regional Health Center who is working toward her registered nurse’s license. She works in Bothwell’s Orthopedics Department and was recognized as Bothwell’s Employee of the Month in April.

The BRHC Auxiliary annually awards two scholarships to nursing students with preferenc

e to one entering the nursing field and one to a Bothwell employee furthering his or her nursing education.

In a news release, Karen Suroff, chairwoman of Bothwell’s Auxiliary Scholarship Committee and a former BRHC nurse, said: “The auxiliary’s goal is to financially assist those pursuing a nursing career with hopes that they will chose to stay at Bothwell Regional Health Center after finishing their education.”

Proceeds from the BRHC Gift Shop fund the scholarships.
