Man admits to assault in drunken driving wreck
A Smithton man has been sentenced to 240 days in jail for a second-degree assault that occurred when he was driving intoxicated.
Timothy Smeltser, 42, pleaded guilty before Judge Robert L. Koffman in Pettis County Circuit Court Wednesday.
He was arrested in connection with a May 26 motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 50 near Rissler Road.
Smeltserís vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle operated by Joshua Harkins, who had slowed for another vehicle making a turn. Harkins suffered injuries to his wrist and knee.
Smeltser was intoxicated at the time of the accident, Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Mittelhauser said.
