A Sedalia man faces drug charges after police discovered various narcotics, paraphernalia, a quantity of cash and an assault firearm at his home, according to a report from the Sedalia Police Department.

On Monday, officers responded to a home at 1909 S. Stewart Ave. for a call for service. When they arrived, they detected an odor of marijuana in the home, according to the police report.

One of the residents told officers there was marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his bedroom, which police located before contacting the departmentís STING Unit for assistance.

After acquiring a search warrant, investigators combed the residence, seizing about three pounds of marijuana, half an ounce of MDMA (ecstasy), opium and 21 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to the police report.

Investigators also reportedly found drug paraphernalia, digital scales, a weapon with characteristics of an assault firearm and about $6,500 in cash.

Jason B. Viebrock, 26, who lives at the home, was incarcerated at the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of state charges. Police are requesting charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, four counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
