Three Marshall residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Saline County.

Van R. Howery, 74, and Betty J. Howery, 68, were taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

The accident occurred at 10:13 p.m. as Van Howery was westbound on Mount Olive Road at U.S. Highway 65, near Marshall.

Howery’s vehicle went through a stop sign and was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by Care Jones, 56, of Marshall, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Howery’s vehicle overturned and landed on the passenger side.

Jones received treatment at the scene for minor injuries. Jones was wearing a seat belt, the report stated.

The Howerys were not wearing seat belts, according to the report.
