Council members debate funding source for repairing library’s cracks

Posted: Monday, August 6, 2012 10:55 pm | Updated: 11:27 pm, Mon Aug 6, 2012.

Funding to temporarily fix the Sedalia Public Library’s foundation cracks will be split between the library and the city at a cost of about $25,000 each.

During Monday’s Sedalia City Council pre-meeting, Library Director Pam Hunter gave a presentation to council about the library’s recent foundation problems. Late last month several cracks were found along the southwest corner and west wall of the 111-year-old building, forcing the closure of the west wing, which includes the computer room, large print area, children’s area and entire basement.
