State Route 127, south of La Monte will be closed through Aug. 13 for bridge replacement, according to a news release from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office.

The two bridges on 127 over Muddy Creek will be closed. The bridges are within one-half mile of each other and are located three miles south of U.S. Highway 50.

Construction on both bridges will occur at the same time.

Traffic will be detoured around the area on U.S. Highway 50 and state Routes D and Y. Detour signs will be in place.

Due to the rural location of the bridges, the detour will take a substantial amount of time to get through. Motorists may want to consider other routes for a shorter commute.

The improvements are part of Missouri Department of Transportation’s Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.
