The life and legacy of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be marked as part of Monday’s observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Observation of the holiday in Sedalia will begin at 8 a.m. Monday with a Community Friendship Breakfast in the Sacred Heart School cafeteria; the meal is free and open to the public. That will be followed by a Friendship Service set to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, and a commemorative march from the church to the Sedalia Municipal Building. The commemoration will conclude with a public service at city hall, set to begin at 10:45 a.m.
