MoDOT reductions approved

Posted: Thursday, June 9, 2011 12:00 am | Updated: 11:45 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

State officials announced late Wednesday that the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has adopted a plan that will cut Missouri Department of Transportation staff, facilities and equipment — a move expected to save $512 million.

A MoDOT press release said the six commission members adopted a plan that calls for reducing MoDOT’s staff size by 1,200, closing 131 facilities and selling more than 740 pieces of equipment. By 2015, the plan — called the Bolder Five-Year Direction — will save $512 million that will be directed to road and bridge projects.
