Homicide suspect dead after standoff on U.S. 65

Posted: Wednesday, June 1, 2011 12:00 am | Updated: 11:26 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

Law enforcement officers with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Sedalia Police Department assisted other agencies Wednesday in the pursuit of a suspect in a St. Joseph homicide.

Sheriff Kevin Bond told the Democrat the suspect — later identified as Ty Arnold, 28, of St. Joseph, who was wanted in connection with the shooting death of his wife — was first spotted traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 before 4 p.m. near Higginsville. Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol attempted to stop Arnold after he turned southbound on U.S. Highway 65, but the suspect began firing a weapon at officers, then turned around and began heading back north.
