Women of all backgrounds are invited to attend the Business Women of Missouri’s annual leadership conference, set for Saturday.
This is the first time in many years that the conference has been held in Sedalia, said conference chairwoman Dianne Simon. Nancy Grey, director of light industrial at ProEnergy Services, is president of the state organization and helped bring the conference to Sedalia.
“It’s an opportunity to show off Sedalia and bring people here to our community,” Simon said. “It also gives women in our local chapter the chance to attend the conference who might not travel to another location.”
The first presentation will be given by Sedalia resident Jennifer Yazell, organizational development consultant at Golden Egg Communications, a training and organizational development firm. Yazell has worked with many businesses across the country and several overseas.
“Jennifer is very motivated and an outstanding speaker,” Simon said. “We’re excited to have her. She’s going to bring a lot to the conference.”
Yazell’s presentation, titled “What you and the Energizer Bunny have in common and why it’s important,” will be about coaching and determination Simon said.
“It helps women offer support to other women, and encourages determination to reach their career goals,” she added.
Also speaking during the conference is West Point Military Academy student Jordan Bush, who will speak about her experience during her first year in the military academy.
Bush was also sponsored by the Sedalia BWM chapter to go to Girls State.
The last presentation of the day will come from Sedalia Municipal Judge Debbie Mitchell who will be discussing her recent trip to Afghanistan, where she worked as a justice adviser with the Rule of Law program.
“The conference is a great opportunity for women to improve themselves, which is always important in today’s world,” Simon said. “It’s also the chance to meet some great ladies from all around the state.”
The leadership conference will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Best Western State Fair Motor Inn.
