Posted: Monday, November 5, 2012 10:46 pm

The Sedalia City Council approved several construction bids for the new Sedalia Fire Department station during its meeting on Monday.

Nearly a year ago, Fire Chief Mike Ditzfeld approached council about the need for a new station to replace Station No. 2 on West 16th Street and council approved the $3.7 million expenditure in March. The new building will have a hose tower and special parking lot that can be also be used for training purposes, more office space and sleeping quarters and four drive-through bays for fire trucks, including room for the department’s new 100-foot ladder truck.
