Sedalia woman charged with stabbing son
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A Sedalia woman was in Pettis County Jail on Thursday accused of stabbing her son in a dispute over laundry.
Jeffrey W. Bosworth, 32, of 1217 E. Main St., Apt. B, on Wednesday told police at Bothwell Regional Health Center that his mother, Melva J. Huber, stabbed him in the back with a wooden handled steak knife, according to a probable cause statement by Lt. William Chapman, of the Sedalia Police Department.
Bosworth said he was in the laundry leaning over a washing machine when Huber came from behind and stabbed him, according to the statement.
Bosworth’s brother, Shawn Bosworth, told police he heard Jeffery Bosworth scream “What did you do that for?” then “You need to rush me to the hospital because mom stabbed me with a knife. I am bleeding to death,” Chapman wrote.
Another brother, Christopher Bosworth, said Jeffery Bosworth was in the laundry room area with Huber then came into the living room bleeding, according to the statement.
Huber, 53, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action — both felonies — in connection with the incident, court records show. She remained at Pettis County Jail on $100,000 bail Thursday, a jail spokeswoman said.
Jeffrey Bosworth was treated and released from Bothwell Regional Health Center on Wednesday, a hospital spokesman said.
