SEDALIA CLUBS’ ACTIVITIES TODAY :

Heber Hunt


Time: 3:30-6:30 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s About Support! Activities will include presentations on the projects club members have been working on this semester.


Horace Mann Cafeteria


Time: 3:30-6:30 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It Makes Sense to Get Involved! Activities will include science experiments that will test all your senses.


Parkview Elementary School


Time: 4:30-5 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s A Good Time! Club members will dance and perform sign language followed by a balloon release at the end of the event.


Sedalia Middle School, Room 128


Time: 6-7 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – We’re Becoming Leaders! Activities will include a Torch Club officers and members induction ceremony.



Skyline Cafeteria & Gym

 

Time: 3:30-5:30 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s A Colorful Club! Activities to include coloring paper cutouts of light bulbs and listening as Torch Club members read a proclamation showcasing the need for afterschool programs.


Washington School Cafeteria


Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s About Support! Activities to include Club members making posters in support of afterschool programming.

 

Cole Camp School Cafeteria


Time: 4:30-6:00 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s A Spectrum of Fun! Activities to include students demonstrating science experiments.


Green Ridge School


Time: 4-5:30 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s Scientific! Activities to include science fair presentations.

 

La Monte School Cafeteria


Time: 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – It’s A Fall Celebration! Activities to include a fall food tasting contest, guessing the weight of pumpkins, graphing leafs and gourd bowaling.


Smithton


Time: 4:15-6 p.m.


What: Lights on Afterschool Celebration – Light Up Your Imagination! Activities to include presentations on ongoing art projects.

Members, staff and supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri and the Sedalia Middle School Torch Club were joined by Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn on Wednesday at the club’s main office at 3100 Aaron Ave. for the reading of a mayoral proclamation recognizing Thursday as “Lights on Afterschool Day,” part of a national event involving 7,500 sites in support of afterschool programs. As part of the kickoff, attendees installed a 24-foot plywood light bulb painted and decorated by the Torch Club members that will be on display and will stay illuminated for 24 hours in honor of the celebration.
