Man faces felony charges after chase
A Calhoun man faces felony charges after a New Year’s Day chase, according to Henry County Sheriff’s Department reports.
Allan Peek, 20, of Calhoun, failed to yield to an emergency vehicle about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 1, and he accelerated in an attempt to elude officers, reports stated.
Henry County Prosecuting Attorney Richard Shields charged Peel with resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer, both felony charges. Peek was freed from jail on a $25,000 bond, reports stated.
Deputies pursued Peek as he traveled to southbound Highway 7 before turning onto State Highway C. Peek turned north onto State Highway V and then west onto County Road NE 300, reports stated.
Peek then turned around and traveled back toward deputies. Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeremy Bowman deployed his “stop stick” tire deflation device and deflated the two front tires of the Suburban, which traveled into the ditch. Peek put the vehicle in reverse and struck a patrol vehicle. No injuries occurred during the pursuit, according to Henry County Sheriff’s Department reports.
