County Commission opens bid on computer equipment

The Sedalia Democrat

The Pettis County Commission on Tuesday opened bids on computer equipment to upgrade the county’s network infrastructure and approved reimbursements for unanticipated 2009 expenses.

The county received one bid, from Precision Computer Inc., for one or more Internet switches and boxes. The Sedalia company’s proposal for a 48-port switch, which is used to maximize network bandwidth, included a $589 offer for a standard switch or a stackable switch for $1,029.

Precision Computer also submitted a bid for a 42u rack with side panels, front and back locking doors and driven air circulation for $1,095.

The county’s technologies division is expected to make a recommendation on the proposals Thursday.
Commissioners also signed a court order to transfer reimbursement funding related to the November special election on the Windsor School District bond issue.

The city of Windsor reimbursed $1,901 to Pettis County for the November election in which Windsor School District voters authorized the district to issue $2 million in bonds to complete renovation, remodeling and repair improvements to district facilities. Pettis County Clerk Pam Doane said the election expenses were not included in the county’s initial 2009 budget.

The commission also approved budget transfers to account for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s portion of additional engineering costs associated with the shelter projects. Engineering expenses for the La Monte shelter were already paid, but the county had yet to receive FEMA funding for engineering on the remaining seven shelters.

Commissioners approved the transfer of $13,500 from FEMA for engineering work on each of the remaining seven shelters. Pettis County had already budgeted for its own $3,375 matching portion on each shelter.
