Cupid's Ball tickets on sale Saturday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Young girls will have the chance to dance with their prince charming in a castle and get the royal treatment for an evening at the 11th annual Cupid’s Ball in February.
But, first their dates need to get the tickets.
Tickets for the ball cost $20 person and will be on sale for one day only from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, 1701 W. 32nd St.
JoAnn Perusich, co-chairwoman for the Cupid’s Ball, said last year all the tickets were sold within the first hour.
Girls ages 5 to 12 may attend with their fathers or any friend or family member they consider as their prince charming for a night of activities and dancing.
Perusich said the girls will be making crowns, dancing and have the opportunity to enjoy other activities throughout the night.
“We want it to be a night to remember,” Perusich said.
The ball, hosted by the Woman’s Service League, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Mo Ag Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The fundraising event’s theme is “Dancing with Cinderella.”
Last year, the Women’s Service League raised $3,340 by selling 364 tickets. This year, the goal is to raise $7,350 by selling 425 tickets. All the proceeds go to charity.
Organizers are encouraging the guests to bring a pair of new children’s pajamas to experience the “Princess Power Circle.”
The league will donate the pajamas to Citizens Against Spouse Abuse in Sedalia.
Children will create the power circle by joining hands. An employee of CASA will thank them for their donations.
“We want to instill in them the importance of giving,” Perusich said.
As guests arrive, Inter-State Studio photographers will make their portraits.
For the 12-year-old girls, there will be a special dance with their prince charming at the end of the evening.
