Juan C. Cardoso-Ambriz, 6, of California, was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia where he was in fair condition Monday afternoon, said a hospital spokeswoman.

Elizabeth Cardoso-Ambriz, 17, of California, was taken by ambulance to Lake Ozark Hospital. Katherine Juarez, 17, of California, and Grant D. Beauchamp, 23, of Eldon, were taken to Lake Regional Hospital. Their condition reports were unavailable.

The fire truck from the Moreau Fire Protection District in Eldon was returning from a call and was traveling south on Highway 87, according to troopers. Beauchamp was the fire truck driver. The van, driven by Diego Cardoso-Ambriz, 19, of California, was northbound.

Diego Cardoso-Ambriz tried to turn left and drove into the path of the fire truck, troopers reported.

The three who were killed were taken to Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
