Firefighters battle house blaze south of Sedalia
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Firefighters from the Pettis County, Green Ridge and Cole Camp fire departments battled a house fire south of Sedalia for more than two hours Friday night.
Firefighters were called at about 7:10 p.m. to a fire at a two-story log home at 30250 Colby Circle. The homeowners were at the house at the time of the fire, but no one was injured, Pettis County Fire Chief Jeff Williams said.
“I believe it started as a flue fire from a wood stove and it just got out of control,” Williams said.
Firefighters from Green Ridge and Cole Camp were called to assist in battling the blaze and provide additional trucks and water.
By 8 p.m. Friday, the blaze had consumed the interior of the house while flames shot out through what remained of the roof. Several motorists pulled over along the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 65 to watch firefighters as they worked late into the night to extinguish the fire.
