The Bothwell Regional Health Center Foundation will roll out the red carpet for people at the Sedalia Country Club on Oct. 18.

The foundation is hosting its first Star-Studded Evening, complete with valet parking and Hollywood entertainment.

A Joan Rivers impersonator will give a play-by-play as guests arrive and stroll down the red carpet. Impersonator Helene A. Masiko-Crews, has toured with the Broadway shows “Hair” and “Let My People Go.”

Her band, Jeez!, has had roles in movies including, “Twelve Monkeys,” “Jesus’ Son,” “The Sixth Sense” and “The Nail.”

David Floyd, president of the foundation, said this fundraiser will be very nice and a little bit unusual.

“This is a unique opportunity,” Floyd said.

The fundraiser will also include Elton John impersonator, Lee Alverson. Alverson will perform a number of John’s hits at 8:15 p.m.

Alverson will be singing and playing the piano in exact replicas of John’s costumes. He has performed with such acts as The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, John Denver, Manhattan Transfer, Three Dog Night, The Four Tops and Andy Williams.

The ticket price to attend is $125 per person or people can purchase a table of 10 for $1,250.

The event will raise funds for the purchase of a patient positioning system for the Cancer Center.

Floyd said that the Cancer Center is the fastest growing area of the hospital. The center has seen a 17 percent increase in its number of patients over the past year.

Guests will be greeted with complimentary valet parking at 6:30 p.m., followed by cocktails and an opportunity for a professional photograph by Scholomer Photography.

Joe Fischer, honorary chair, will speak at 7:30 p.m.

Fischer’s wife, Susan, died earlier this year after a battle with brain cancer. Susan received chemotherapy from Duke University Hospital in North Carolina and radiation from Bothwell Regional Health Center.

“The treatment she got was very special,” Fischer said.

Fischer said that Bothwell acquired new software just to accommodate Susan.

“The convenience aspect when dealing with treatment is so important,” Fischer said.

Dinner will begin at 7:45 p.m. Smoked salmon, stuffed mushrooms and crab rangoon will be a few of the appetizers served, followed by prime rib and smoked turkey breast as the entree.

A variety of vegetables and salads will be served followed with dessert by the Cake Lady.

A trip to Las Vegas, including air fare, a room at the Bellagio and tickets to see Danny Gans, will be raffled at 9 p.m. Tickets are $100 each for the raffle.

A second raffle will begin at 10:15 p.m. It will include a basket worth more than $1,000 with items such as an iPod, spa experience and flowers. The raffle tickets for the basket are $50.

The evening will end with a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.

“We want to improve the health of every citizen in our community,” Floyd said.
