Deer hunter a reluctant celebrity

The Sedalia Democrat

A Sedalia man is reluctantly learning what it feels like to be a celebrity after being attacked by a deer on Nov. 16.

Randy Goodman shot a nine-point, 240-pound buck twice before walking up to it. The buck was not dead and attacked Goodman, sending him to the emergency room where he received nine staples in his scalp. He also was bruised on his arm and chest.

Goodman’s story has been among the most viewed on www.sedaliademocrat.com this week and has been read by tens of thousands of people on Internet sites internationally since it appeared in The Democrat on Monday.

Goodman said his phone has not stopped ringing with calls from newspapers, radio stations and television stations wanting to interview him. He told his story to Kansas City viewers on Fox 4, and has an appearance scheduled for Friday morning on the nationally televised Fox and Friends. His interview will air at 7:50 a.m. Friday morning.
