Green Ridge couple face meth charges

Two Green Ridge residents remained at Pettis County Jail on Wednesday after their arrest during a search warrant service at their home.
Arrested were Nickey J. Hargett, 35, and Shebil M. Todd, 29, both of the 100 block of North Cumberland, according to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by the Pettis and Johnson County sheriff’s departments, the Green Ridge Police Department and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force.

The police seized  suspected methamphetamine, items commonly used in a methamphetamine lab, drug paraphernalia, stolen checks, stolen credit cards and stolen lottery tickets.

Hargett and Todd each were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony. Todd also was charged with 14 counts of forgery, also a class C felony. Bond was set at $50,000 each.

According to court documents, Johnson County authorities contacted the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department on Monday regarding a burglary and forgery investigation.

Johnson County resident Sara Henderson reported the theft of several books of checks, two in the name of Bill and Sara Ferguson and one in the name of Bill and Rosanna Ferguson. Fourteen checks totaling roughly $1,400 were written on the accounts.

Authorities found at the Green Ridge home pre-paid debit cards in the name of William and Rosanna Ferguson, a torn-up check belonging to William Ferguson and a welder similar to one purchased with a stolen check.

Deputies also found a receipt from Goody’s consistent with the amount and date of a used stolen check. They believe the debit cards could have been obtained by returning items purchased with the stolen checks.

Authorities likely will file more charges against Todd in Johnson County, according to Johnson County Sheriff Charles M. Heiss.
