Although Missouri First Lady Georganne Nixon could not be in attendance for the annual First Lady’s Pie Contest in the Home Economics Building at the Missouri State Fair on Thursday, 18 fruit pies and 14 cream pies were turned in for judging. Maxine Griggs, of Sedalia, looks over the entries with Millie and Mike Sargent, of Warsaw. MSF Home Ec. Superintendent Lynne Beasley said there were six judges tasting and scoring pies.

The Bluegrass Martins performed for guests as judging took place at the First Lady’s Pie Contest hosted in the Home Economics Building at the Missouri State Fair on Thursday.
