The 4 p.m. Inter Tribal Dance was one of the most colorful dances Saturday. Dancers from all tribes are invited to participate in the arena in their respective regalia. Lori Woolery, of Sedalia, dances in the center with a blue jingle dress. Woolery said the dress is representative of a medicine dress that was made to heal someone. On right, Mike Scheiblhofer, of Omaha, Neb., represents the Omaha tribe and is wearing fancy dance regalia.

Dustin Hoffman, of Kansas City, adjusts his 1-year-old daughter, Makynzie Hoffman’s, jingle dress before the Inter Tribal Dance on Saturday afternoon. Hoffman said this was Makynzie’s first time to enter the arena and she would be formally introduced before dancing with her father, mother, Victoria Hoffman, and sister ,Abygale Hoffman, 3. The family represented the Cheyenne tribe.

Many vendors set up tables in the Ag Building and also outdoors for the powwow Saturday afternoon. Dawn and Terry Smith, seated, owners of Wave Walker Trading Co., in Buckner, man their table at the powwow. Rick Parks, of Boone County, owner of The Mountain Man Outdoor Classroom, talks with them. Parks said he provides period demonstrations, student interactions, and authentic encampments.
