Nicole Cooke|Democrat Hangzhou Wenlan Middle School Principal Ren Jichang looks on as SHS Principal Mark Register signs the memorandum of understanding. The China-U.S. Friendship Center, which prepares Chinese students for studying abroad, was started by Xiao Chun Yue a few years ago and is also part of the partnership.


Nicole Cooke|Democrat SHS exchange student Cheng “Leon” Jiang, 17, plays the piano for the Chinese academic delegates. Jiang, who started at SHS this semester, is the first student to come to SHS with the new partnership, and is the first student from the China-U.S. Friendship Center. His host parents are Roger and Tabitha Kedhe.
