Warmer temperatures this week coinciding with the first day of spring prompted many Sedalians to begin sprucing up — not only at ground level but also sky-high. The Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department hired Tim Ehlers, owner of Tim’s Tree Service LLC, of Sedalia, to fell a tree at Liberty Park on Wednesday. Ehlers placed several cuts around the base of a large tree in preparation for Christian Hardesty to knock it over with his John Deere skid steer. Also helping Ehlers on Wednesday was John Beamon. “It was a dangerous tree, it was split down the middle,” Ehlers said.

Also taking advantage of the better weather were two employees of KARR Tuckpointing Company LLC, of Vinton, Iowa, who were working high-up on masonry near one of Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s steeples Wednesday afternoon.
