The Sedalia City Council will vote to adopt a new ordinance, which pertains to council itself rather than the public, during its meeting today.
The council will review and ordinance to adopt a Code of Conduct for the mayor and council. It will be Sedalia’s first Code of Conduct for its elected officials and will set a standard for ethics and performance.
Council will also vote to approve a bid for dumpsters for the Sanitation Department. Bids were solicited for 43 two-yard dumpsters and 25 four-yard dumpsters. It is recommended the council accept the low bid of $35,970 from Downing Sales and Services, of Phillipsburg, which meets all specifications.
The Sanitation Department will not be footing the entire bill for the dumpsters. The Sedalia Parks Department and the Sedalia Housing Authority were included on the city’s bid for dumpsters. Sanitation will purchase 40 two-yard dumpsters and 10 four-yard dumpsters; Housing Authority will purchase 15 four-yard dumpsters; and Parks will be purchasing three two-yard dumpsters. The total cost for Sanitation will be $24,030, well under the budgeted $30,000.
The final item to be voted on will be reviewing a change order from Cahills Construction Inc., for $6,789.76 for the Horace Mann Elementary Safe Routes to School Project for final quantity adjustments. If the change order is approved, it will increase the contract price to $134,698.66. The proposed change order has been approved by MoDOT and the project is fully funded by a grant.
Service Awards will be presented to Sedalia Fire Department Capt. Melvin Lange, 40 years of service; Finance Department Accounting Tech Melissa Culp, 10 years of service; and SFD Driver/Engineer Kyle Rupe, 10 years of service.
The Sedalia City Council pre-meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room with the regular meeting immediately following at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Municipal Building, 200 S. Osage Ave. For more information call 827-3000.
