The Sacred Heart Gremlins opened the Barstow soccer tournament Tuesday with an 8-1 win over Cristo Rey.

Cristo Rey struck first in the game, taking a 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes, but the Gremlins answered. Max Martin scored the equalizer from the penalty spot and Will Prenger put Sacred Heart ahead midway through the half.

Just before the half, freshman Sebastian Aguero put the Gremlins ahead 3-1.

Sacred Heart pulled away in the second half on goals from Brandon Cooper, Devon Grose, Aguero and Sergio Guerra.

Sacred Heart will face St. Paul Lutheran on Thursday.
