Sedalia project to benefit Hurricane Ike victims
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Fifty people will benefit from a project to ship supplies to victims of Hurricane Ike to Houston from Sedalia, said Freema Smith, an adjunct instructor at State Fair Community College who coordinated the effort.
“We sent 10 boxes yesterday. It was just a blessing, said Smith, associate pastor of True Vine Church of God in Christ.
Inside the boxes were 50 packages each containing towels, wipes, and a battery operated light kit.
Evangelist Debra Hubbard, a volunteer representative of the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Church of God in Christ district in Houston, will distribute the goods, Smith said.
Those participating in the effort here were Shepherd’s Place Christian bookstore, State Fair Community College students, and McLaughlin’s Furniture, which served as a drop-off point.
