First-grader Natalie Clutter has the comforts of home. A handful of popcorn, comfortable pajamas, and a soft chair to curl up in and enjoy several books, all next to the chalkboard in her classroom. The Missouri Legislature designated the second Friday in March as Missouri School Read-In Day. Parkview Elementary School gave reading center stage on Friday and had activities instilling a spirit of joy in reading books. Teachers and students dressed up as their favorite book characters, classrooms doors were decorated to promote a favorite book, people from the community were invited to read to the students, and flash reading sessions were announced over the intercom several times during the day.
