Alaina Spencer, 7, gives Betty Wells. a resident at Fair View Nursing Home, 1714 W. 16th St., a pumpkin that she had decorated. The Smithton Elementary School second grader and her fellow Girl Scouts from Smithton Troops 30752 and 70952 paid a visit Thursday to the nursing home to give the residents pumpkins for Halloween. The girls were given the pumpkins during a recent field trip to Pa Pa's Pumpkin Patch near Sedalia. "It is the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts and the girls wanted to give back to the community and they enjoyed painting and delivering them," Troop Leader Karen Hill said. "They hope the seniors make pumpkin pie. It will be a double treat, " she said.
